COMPAK ATTAK 2008
It seemed like a long wait between events. We tried one last time for a PB on the manual box at a test and tune opportunity at WSID, but on the first pass of the day, we ended up twisting and breaking the output shaft of the gearbox on the start line. This locked up the whole drivetrain of the car, and it was a real pain to get the car back onto the trailer (the tailshaft finally dropped down off the diff yoke after we bounced the car on the rest of the way-grrrr). So the car ended up a week early in the Blacktrack Performance workshop for the pre-planned auto conversion. Last minute hiccups added to our anxiety, with delivery back home only the day before the Compak Attak event, allowing just enough time to check, wash and clean for the following day.
MINI JAM 2008
It wasn't any fun putting a drag car onto a trailer and packing the car in the rain, but the fine Queensland weather at Toyo Tires Sport Compact Group Mini Jam '08 made us forget all about that. Being the second round of the series, and with good points from the first round, we were keen to beat the Queenslanders at their own track. Unfortunately, there was another motorsport event in NSW which reduced the quantity, but not the quality of the competition!
SUMMER SLAM 2008
The first round of the 2008 Toyo Tires Sport Compact Group Drag Racing Series was held at Heathcote Raceway, Victoria. The 2nd of February was the delayed event date due to the rerun of last season's Jamboree.
CASTROL EDGE JAMBOREE 17 V2
Woke to a clear and sunny morning in West Brisbane and headed to the track to try and get that number one position that was still in my grasp. The original date of August 25/26 - J17 V1- was rain affected, so we made the trek back to J17 V2. The delay in the rerun also allowed some extra competitors, who for whatever reason, couldn't race on the original dates. For example, Tony Wedlock and his Toyota Camry, and the Gas Motorsport Celica.
Mega Bucks Bonanza Part 1
Woke up early for a 2 hour drive and arrival at the track at 7:15 AM. Ignoring the previous nights battery problems, we breezed through scrutineering and auditing and made the standard 7SINS pre race checks and changes.
Compak Attak 2007
The 4th round of the Sport Compact Group Drag racing series sponsored by Toyo Tyres (www.toyo.com.au) was held at WSID, Sydney. Heavy rain and wind the day before lead to a bright, clear and 'fresh' day for racing.
Mini Jam 2007
Round 3 of the Sport Compact Group drag racing series found its home at Willowbank Raceway, Queensland. www.willowbankraceway.com.au Perfect weather greeted a large field of cars as they set up in the racers pits and show and shine areas. If you have never been before, all areas except the start line are public accessible - allowing you to get close to your favourite car and driver. Drag racing, show and shine, babe and bikini comps were the days entertainment.
Drag Warz rd 2, 2007
ANDRA (Australian National Drag Racing Association) Drag Warz round 2 was held on Saturday 10th March. A clear sky was the welcomed greeting as competitors set up from 6am at WSID (Western Sydney International Dragway) for the final round of this series. '7 SINS' made the trek down from Newcastle, but due to set up and scrutineering time, missed the first of four qualifying call ups for Oz Mod.
Toyo Tyres Summer Slam, 2007
On the 13th of January, the second round of the Sport Compact Group drag racing series was held at Heathcote Park raceway, Victoria ( www.heathcoteraceway.com.au ). Toyo Tyres ( www.toyo.com.au ) proudly sponsored the event. With the top 2 cars of the ST289 points table not attending the event, it would be a great opportunity to get to the top of the leader board.
Fast Fours Jamboree 16, 2006
'7 SINS' was transported with other RX Engineering cars to the 2006 Fast Fours Magazine Jamboree, at Willowbank Raceway, Queensland. This is the years premier Sport Compact event run over 2 days - Saturday and Sunday 23/24 of September. It attracts cars from all over Australia and New Zealand. A special mention also to 3 cars from Puerto Rico who came over thanks to Jon at Rx Engineering and Microtech Global. It was also the first round of the Sport Compact Group Drag Racing Series.
