HA ha I won Street Compact Class!
In a strange turn of events the 7SINS tow car won Street Compact class at the Sydney Jamboree!
It's a BF Ford Falcon wagon mkIII, it has no mods except for towing accessories. In manual mode and traction control turned off, and 3/4 tank of 95ron fuel, it rocketed down the 1/4 mile in 15.087 seconds at 88.47MPH (142KMH) - and I backed off at the end too! I had dialled in a 15.1 for the final, as it was getting quicker each run (previous run was a double break out with a 15.164 on a 15.23 dial in, against a Nissan Skyline, but I did it by the lesser amount). The problem was that the holden ute (yep Holden vs Ford) appeared to have won the race due to my break out, but had initially rear wheel staged at the start line, so the race director handed the win to me according to the "first or worst" rule.
I didn't want to win this way, but that's racing!
Full Throttle Friday 18/2/11
Yes it's time! Weather pending, we will be blowing out the cobwebs and doing some laps down the Sydney Dragway strip. A few minor mods to fuel lines to keep ANDRA happy are the only changes to the existing reliable package. Plenty of racing ahead this year, so I need all the practice I can get. See you there! edit: 3 passes in total. On the second pass I did a PB reaction time of 0.006 seconds. Re-occuring transmission gremlins should be sorted in the coming weeks.
Fuchs Australian Nationals
It's here already! 3 days of non stop action at Sydney Dragway this weekend, 10/11/12th September. Huge fields through all catagories will certainly ensure the claws are out to fight for the top positions. We have entered Super Sedan for this event. Wish us luck! More info and to listen to the track commentary head to www.sydneydragway.com.au EDIT: Friday qualifying 1: 9.6 @ 139MPH, Rain delays set the schedule back 2 hours. Q2 has been pushed back to tonight, but we have let that go. Ready to race tomorrow though! Bring on the sunshine! EDIT: Saturday Q3: 9.41 @ 140 MPH. Elimination 1: dialed in 9.40, unfortunatley we backed off a fraction too much, running a 9.53 and losing by .02 of a second. Bugger! pics here
J20
Jamboree 20 is this month, 21st and 22nd of August at Willowbank Raceway, West of Brisbane. It will be the biggest ever, with over 220 entrants already, including a couple of the fastest Peurto Ricans ready to go head to head with Australia's best. Be there or miss out! More info www.sportcompact.net.au, and www.willowbankraceway.com.au EDIT: Saturday qualifying: 1st run: wheel spin off line, 12.6 @ 139 MPH 2nd run: better but not great launch, 9.406 @ 142 MPH 3rd run: 9.343 @ 144 MPH EDIT: Sunday eliminations: Elim 1: solo 9.21 @ 143.8 MPH (9.4 dial) Elim 2: 9.338 @ 140.6 (9.2 dial), scraped in by a wisker right at the finish line. Elim 3: cancelled due to lack of cars, straight to semis Elim 4(semis): Deja vu! Broke out 9.277 @ 132 (9.3 dial). Didn't back off enough. Congrats to Brad Wood in 'Pig 323', who went on to win ST289. Thanks once again to Justin/Renee/Merv at Blacktrack Performance, Murray and the guys for the tow/pit crew, Trade and General Towing for helping out with some truck transport finances. COMPAK ATTAK 2010
Compak Attak is on again on the 28th March at Sydney Dragway. It's Sydney's turn to turn up the heat in the Sport Compact arena. Titan are back! The Battle of the 2J will be as tight as ever. We will be racing ST 289, and having the car re-tuned after the "bedding in" period of the motor, the power is turned up to run low 9 second quarters (and some wheels up action). See you there! more info www.sportcompact.net.au edit: Results: Compak Attak 2010 has come and almost won. We went really well in terms of reaction times (best of .007!)and consistant Et's of 9.5, but when it mattered most, we were just a bit too keen. A red light of -0.02 gave the ST289 finals win to Chris Hall of QLD. Congratulations Chris! pics and vids here. Results here.
FULL THROTTLE FRIDAY
Full Throttle Friday at WSID, 30th October. End of week stress relief! We will be gathering data to better our chances at the 9.90 fixed index for the Super Gas class. Results: 9.961 @ 139MPH, 10.014 @ 139MPH, 9.899 @ 138MPH
Tin Tops
On the weekend of April 18th and 19th, we attended the annual 'Tin Top Titles' event at Willowbank Raceway, Queensland. We decided to go to this event rather than the K'Archer Nitro champs in Sydney as it was a 2 day as opposed to a 3 day event, and it was a good excuse to get away from work for a few days, with a days travel to and from the event, and the fact that willowbank generally runs large events alot more smoothly.Plus the fact that Mini Jam wasn't an option in the Sport Compact Group series this year.
COMPAK ATTAK 2008
It seemed like a long wait between events. We tried one last time for a PB on the manual box at a test and tune opportunity at WSID, but on the first pass of the day, we ended up twisting and breaking the output shaft of the gearbox on the start line. This locked up the whole drivetrain of the car, and it was a real pain to get the car back onto the trailer (the tailshaft finally dropped down off the diff yoke after we bounced the car on the rest of the way-grrrr). So the car ended up a week early in the Blacktrack Performance workshop for the pre-planned auto conversion. Last minute hiccups added to our anxiety, with delivery back home only the day before the Compak Attak event, allowing just enough time to check, wash and clean for the following day.
MINI JAM 2008
It wasn't any fun putting a drag car onto a trailer and packing the car in the rain, but the fine Queensland weather at Toyo Tires Sport Compact Group Mini Jam '08 made us forget all about that. Being the second round of the series, and with good points from the first round, we were keen to beat the Queenslanders at their own track. Unfortunately, there was another motorsport event in NSW which reduced the quantity, but not the quality of the competition!
SUMMER SLAM 2008
The first round of the 2008 Toyo Tires Sport Compact Group Drag Racing Series was held at Heathcote Raceway, Victoria. The 2nd of February was the delayed event date due to the rerun of last season's Jamboree.
